    UNIABUJA CONFERENCE 2019

    Fourteen years after the establishment of the Centre, a one-day conference on ‘’Gender Inclusion’’ was organized by the Centre in collaboration with Change Managers International Network with support from Action Aid Nigeria on Thursday, 11th April 2019 at the Faculty of Management Sciences Lecture Theatre, University of Abuja. The conference was aimed at bringing to the fore emerging issues on Gender and Inclusion looking at Governance, Education, and Health as they affect women in particular.

    UN WOMEN NIGERIA TRAINING PROGRAM

    The entire program was to strengthen the capacity of four key staff in 5 political parties by training these staff on Gender Mainstreaming, Gender Budgeting, Structural, and Policy Reform which also involved other activities to achieve a positive result in the program. This training empowered the Staff of the various political parties to be more cognizant on issues and barriers in achieving gender equality. The participants from various departments of the political parties will be able to push for the actualization and realization of these key aspects in gender mainstreaming, gender-responsive budgeting, structural and policy reform for development. The training is more focused and will have a substantial outcome on party managers and their office administrators who in other words, have institutional memory to advise politicians. The essence of the training is to ensure these officials understand Gender Mainstreaming and are gender-sensitive enough to design, plan and advise their political heads in all areas supporting and influencing budget officers to produce gender-sensitive budgets.

    Community engagement and participation is the concept, a component of the Edo State`s government vision on governance and institutional development under the Edo Basic Education Transformation (Edo-BEST) which adopted a holistic approach aligned with the SGDs 4&5, to improve equitable access, quality and inclusive basic education and learning outcomes of school pupils( boys and girls )in Edo State. To realize this laudable vision, it was necessary to build the capacity of the SUBEB Social Mobilization Officers in community engagement and participation. Thus, Edo State Government in collaboration with Change Managers International Network CMIN planned, organized and implemented a 10-day training program for the SUBEB Social Mobilization Officers in Benin.

    ADVOCACY VISIT TO THE CHAIRMAN HOUSE COMMITTEE ON WOMEN

    Advocacy visit on the 3rd of March 2020, to the Chair House Committee on Women Affairs, House of Representatives Hon. Dr. Otunba Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga. The meeting is part of the Women’s Voice and Leadership Nigeria Project managed by the 100 Women Lobby Group supported by Action Aid Nigeria and Global Affairs Canada. The main objective is the increase in the number of women in leadership at all levels of governance.

    BREAKFAST MEETING WITH RT. HON. SPEAKER

    A breakfast meeting hosted by 100 women Lobby Group which was supported by Change Managers International Network and Action Aid Nigeria, held on Monday 15th May 2019 at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. The Breakfast Roundtable Meeting with the Speaker of Nigeria's House of Representatives focused on “Expanding Spaces for Women in Governance: Opportunities and Challenges”. It had in attendance the Honourable Speaker Olufemi Gbajabiamila, the Deputy House Leader, Deputy Chief Whip, Honourable Nkiruka Onyejeocha and five other Honourable Members both Male and Female. We also had in attendance UN Women and UNDP representatives and about 55 women and 15 men from gender-focused organizations who are also members of the 100 Women Lobby Group. There was media coverage also at the event.
